Security Guard - Unarmed Roving Patrol in Chicago, IL
, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at an education location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will greet students, staff, and visitors with professional customer service, communicate clearly, and respond to security-related concerns with calm teamwork.

What You'll Do
  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by following Allied Universal security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout academic buildings, galleries, common areas, loading areas, and perimeter to help deter unwanted activity and/or policy violations.
  • Monitor access points and interior spaces, observe for unusual conditions, and report maintenance concerns, hazards, and/or suspicious behavior through established channels.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, providing assistance with crowd management, access control, and/or de‑escalation as directed.
  • Complete routine documentation such as shift activity reports and incident reports, and communicate clearly with site contacts and responding public services as needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • Provide proof of a high school diploma or GED as required by the client.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • CPR certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
