As an Unarmed Security Officer you will be utilized throughout various Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) rail stations and the rail system, patrolling stations, trains, platforms, rights‑of‑way and pedestrian ways as determined by CTA Security Department. You will be an integral part of the broad spectrum of specialized security services Inter‑Con provides its clients every day.

Responsibilities
  • Complete an approved 20‑hour Basic Unarmed Security Guard Training Course.
  • Maintain a current and valid Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) issued by the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
  • Complete training in interpersonal relationship skills related to interacting with the public and CTA personnel.
  • Report to duty on time in Contractor uniform with safety vests.
  • Carry and be certified to use handcuffs, cell phone/two‑way radio, and flashlight.
  • Be alert for suspicious persons or vehicles entering rail stations, railcars, and facilities; notify immediate supervisor and summon assistance via CTA Control Center or 911 as needed.
  • Provide assistance, information and directions to CTA customers; refer to CTA employees if unable to assist.
  • Guard against unauthorized access by non‑paying persons (fare evaders) and criminal acts against passengers, employees and property.
  • Report damage to CTA property immediately to CTA Communication/Power Control Center.
  • Control and monitor access through rail stations, facilities and rail cars; determine the extent of threats or incidents; summon appropriate assistance and exert appropriate force when necessary.

Qualifications
  • Current guard card license (PERC) as required by state or local law.
  • Pass a 5‑panel drug test prior to placement.
  • Pass a psychological and physical examination.
  • Pass a criminal history check.

  • Be 21 years or older.
Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent; possession of a college degree is highly desirable. Speak, read, and write English. All assigned personnel should be of high integrity and possess exemplary security skills and judgment.
