Position: ASSISTANT GENERAL COUNSEL

Position Overview

The Office of General Counsel is seeking to hire a dynamic, collaborative, detail-oriented licensed attorney in Illinois to serve as an Assistant General Counsel for Privacy. The Assistant General Counsel for Privacy will report to the Deputy General Counsel for HIPAA, FOIA, and Privacy. The Assistant General Counsel will conduct investigations and coordinate responses to external entities of alleged breaches of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, the Personal Information Protection Act, and other privacy statutes.

The Assistant General Counsel will provide guidance on privacy statutes to Department staff, including reviewing and updating Department policies and training local privacy officers.
