As an Unarmed Security Officer, you will be utilized throughout various Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) rail stations, and rail system. To patrol rail stations and rail system via train and provide security guard coverage at or various rapid transit stations, trains, platforms, right of way and pedestrian ways as determined by CTA Security Department. As an Unarmed Security Officer, you are an integral part of the broad spectrum of specialized security services Inter-Con provides its clients every day.

• Security guard duties include patrols via foot and monitor activities at rail stations, rail cars, and facilities as directed.
• Complete an approved twenty (20) hour Basic Unarmed Security Guard Training Course.
• Possess a current and valid Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) issued by the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
• Interact with the public and CTA personnel with professional interpersonal relationship skills.
• Work in teams, defined as two security guards, and report to duty in contractor uniform with safety vests.
• Possess and use equipment including hand cuffs, cell phone/two-way radio, and flashlight as certified.
• Monitor for suspicious persons or vehicles; report incidents to the Contractor’s supervisor or CTA Control Center and call 911 when needed.
• Provide assistance, information and directions to CTA customers; refer patrons to CTA staff when unable to assist directly.
• Guard against unauthorized access and criminal acts within rail stations, facilities and rail cars; report damage to CTA property immediately.
• Control and monitor access, assess threats, and respond to incidents; summon appropriate assistance as necessary.

• A current guard card license as required by state or local law (PERC).
• Must pass a 5-panel drug test prior to placement.
• Must pass a psychological and physical examination.
• Must pass a criminal history check.
• Must undergo employment verification back to age 18.
• Must be 21 years or older.

• High school diploma or equivalent; possession of a college degree is highly desirable.
• Speak, read, and write English.
• All assigned personnel should be of high integrity and possess exemplary security skills and judgment.
