The Mobile Advisor (on‑call) reports to the Safety, Security and Transportation Manager. The role is responsible for enforcing all laws, rules, and policies authorized by the Safety and Security Department. The Advisor models and mentors the eight Career Success Standards of workplace relations and ethics, supporting information management, communication, multicultural awareness, personal growth, career planning, interpersonal skills, and independent living.
Position Functions- Demonstrates and abides by Aleut Core Values and operating principles.
- Enforces all authorized laws, rules, and regulations.
- Performs alarm and patrol duties to protect life and property.
- Provides vehicle transportation support in compliance with applicable directives.
- Aids and assists visitors, students, and staff.
- Performs building security and safety checks.
- Receives complaints and conducts preliminary investigations.
- Maintains harmonious relationships with local law enforcement agencies.
- Provides escort service as directed.
- Investigates vehicular accidents at the center.
- Issues visitor passes and temporary vehicle permits.
- Prepares written accident reports and maintains a security log.
- Enforces center pass policy.
- Attends required in‑service training sessions.
- Participates in the disciplinary process, supporting a zero‑tolerance policy for violence and drugs.
- Assists in Reception functions and manages the staff/student/visitor control area.
- Acts as switchboard operator as required.
- Adheres to Aleut’s Quality Assurance Plan.
- Communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills, including personal responsibility and computer fluency.
- Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property, and follows all safety practices.
- Cultivates a climate free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, ensuring a safe learning environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Six months of related experience; preference for one year in a security or law enforcement setting.
- Valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
- Preference for a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Preference for training with an organized security department.
- Knowledge of riot and crowd control techniques and law enforcement procedures; must maintain CPR/FA certification and be able to obtain a bus driver’s license.
- Ability to effectively relate to trainees, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Capability to operate office equipment and drive an automobile.
- Ability to interact with team members and maintain effective working relationships with all facility staff and departments.
The role involves frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, carrying, running, and driving. Applicants must be able to see, hear, and speak.
Environmental DemandsThe position requires spending 50% of work time outdoors and 50% indoors. Applicants must be able to work in moderate to high noise levels, high temperatures in summer, and low temperatures in winter.
