Security Officer

Join The New School – a progressive, interdisciplinary institution located in New York City, home to over 9,000 students from more than 100 countries. This is a Local 32BJ position subject to the terms and conditions agreed to in the contract between The New School and Local 32BJ.

The New School seeks professional Security Officers that will be responsible for the security and safety of The New School buildings. A drug screening examination, criminal history and background check is required for this position. This position reports to the Security Shift Supervisor.

• Knowledge of all site‑specific policies and procedures.
• Implement emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Provide superior customer service and building and premises security.

• Minimum of 3 years of related work experience and 30 college credits from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of security, military, or law enforcement experience.
• Must have a New York State‑Issued Security Guard License.
• Proficient in the English language.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• State Fire Safety Director’s License is a plus.

This position is primarily in‑person and is based on campus to support effective in‑person collaboration and engagement.

Hourly Rate: $18 per hour
