Position:
Campus Security Guard (Entry Level) – Perspectives Charter Schools Network, Chicago, IL. Part-time, up to 25% travel, day shift. Salary: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour. For the 2026 - 2027 school year.

The network operates five schools on the South Side of Chicago, emphasizing character development and academic rigor. JobPurpose
As a member of the school team, Security Guards serve as ambassadors for A Disciplined Life
, ensuring a calm, structured, and positive learning environment. Responsibilities include controlling traffic, maintaining safe campus conditions for employees and scholars, patrolling property, and performing related duties. The role requires physical readiness to defuse and de-escalate student misconduct and respond urgently to incidents.
- Fulfill duties associated with the post as part of the school’s security plan; maintain an orderly post and remain at the post unless directed otherwise by a supervisor
- Respond to incidents, fights, or safety threats using CPI skills, including momentary physical intervention if warranted by risk
- Conduct hall sweeps and patrol school property to monitor for unauthorized persons; redirect or escort from property and issue visitor badges as needed
- Report unusual activity or safety concerns to the Security Supervisor and administration promptly
- Assist authorities and other emergency responders as necessary
- Complete incident and misconduct reports and provide progress reports on key metrics
- Assist with organization and distribution of student lockers; conduct locker searches as appropriate
- Monitor entrances to ensure only authorized personnel and visitors access the building; enforce visitor protocol at the main entrance if assigned
- Check doors and windows, secure the building at end of shift, and arm the building if applicable
- Participate in professional development to advance skills
- Monitor student entry and dismissal to support safety and attendance procedures
- Build positive relationships with students to maintain a safe learning environment
- Demonstrate dignity and respect in interactions with students
- Lead de-escalation efforts and support on-task behavior in classrooms
- Serve as a primary participant in emergency response during crises (e.g., fire, tornado, active shooter)

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work EnvironmentSchool and office setting. Standard office equipment is used (laptops, smartphones).
Position Type / Expected Hours of WorkFull-time equivalent schedule:
Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Long hours and occasional weekend work may be required based on duties.
Inter-campus travel may be required.

Qualifications- High school diploma or GED required
- 2–3 years of related experience
- Maintain CPI certification
- Ability to write incident reports
- Knowledge of CPS Student Code of Conduct
- Knowledge of basic security and safety methods
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Impeccable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Strong oral, human relations, and interpersonal skills
- Successful completion of PCS Security Training curriculum with associated certifications
The role requires standing, walking, manual dexterity, reaching, bending, kneeling, and climbing stairs. Vision must be correctable to normal levels. Ability to lift 15–20 pounds and push/pull 30–40 pounds may be required.
