Public Safety Student Ambassador
This position is suitable for students who are interested in pursuing careers associated with law enforcement/public safety and/or criminal justice. As Public Safety Student Ambassador at Saint Xavier University, you will promote positive guest/client experiences during university events. A Safety Ambassador is responsible for greeting and ensuring the safety of guests, assisting with emergency or medical situations, and answering general questions regarding the event or the university.
As a crucial member of the Public Safety team, successful candidates may be requested to work a flexible schedule inclusive of early mornings, day & evening shifts (late evenings may be required), weekends, holidays and back-to-back events. Additionally, a Safety Ambassador may be assigned to an area with adverse temperature/weather conditions such as observing the surroundings for any threats, directing guests in/out of campus while being positioned outside of the building.
This role requires the employee to stand and move freely throughout campus during their shift.

- Assist police officers with traffic control during student homecoming or large events.
- Manage traffic detours and guide traffic.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and traffic settings.
- Aid students, staff and community members with directions to designated locations across campus.
- Ensure protection of facilities, properties, employees and guests of Saint Xavier University.
- Promote positive guest/client experience.
- Maintain professional manner, presence, and appearance at all times while on campus.
- Arrive for scheduled shift on time and in proper SXU approved uniform.
- Be prepared to take an active role in Emergency Operations procedures (evacuation plan).
MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY Federal Work Study is not REQUIRED, but if you are FWS eligible you can still apply Must Include a Resume and Cover Letter Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well under pressure. Will have the ability to enforce departmental policies and procedures with fairness and consistency. Must be receptive to working outside in inclement weather and extreme temperatures.
Able to walk and stand during the entire shift. Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 25 lbs. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
