Overview
As a Tower Technician for Utility Core Construction, you will be working in a team environment assisting with structural projects, which may include: new builds, site mods, grain elevators, or on a roof top. Daily activities may include on-site installation, repair, and modification. You will maintain knowledge in effectively utilizing tools, technology, and other resources to install mounts, grounding, cad welding, associative RF components, and/or inspecting structures in which you will be expected to follow all safety precautions set forth by Federal, State, & UCC regulations at all elevations.
As a tower tech for UCC you will have the opportunity to join a local union which includes union benefits: health insurance, pension, life insurance etc.
- Climbing and working on communications towers for the purpose of installing, replacing, and repairing antenna systems equipment; performs tower maintenance under close supervision.
- The basic use and care of hand tools and mechanical equipment.
- Knowing the hazards associated with tower climbing, construction equipment, and working on or near energized lines and equipment.
- The ability to climb tall structures (100ft+) with 50 lb. load.
- Analyzing situations accurately and adopt an appropriate course of action.
- Communicating orally and in writing.
- Following instructions accurately and complete assigned course of action.
- Recognizing safety hazards and performing duties in a safe manner.
- Minimum certifications: OSHA 10 and first aid/CPR.
- Company will complete additional IN-HOUSE training.
- Act as a team leader and mentor to less experienced Tower Technicians.
- Must have the ability to travel extensively within assigned region (mainly IL & WI).
- Must have High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 1 year of industry experience.
- Working knowledge of basic hand tools, mechanical equipment, and electro-mechanical equipment.
- Pass the following tests prior to employment: drug test, background check, MRV and physical examination evaluation process during training.
- Possession of a valid driver license.
- Salary is DOQ.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 1 year of industry experience.
- OSHA 10 and first aid/CPR certifications or equivalent.
- Valid driver license.
- Ability to travel extensively within the assigned region (mainly IL & WI).
- Knowledge of basic hand tools, mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment.
