Position: Mobile Diesel Mechanic II- Class C License $2500 New Hire Bonus

Job Title

Mobile Diesel Technician II – DOT Management Level, Individual Contributor.

Job Summary

Fleet Services, a Cox Automotive Company, offers mobile on‑site maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers. The Mobile Diesel Technician II will work in a mobile/field environment delivering preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, and light repairs.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles.
  • Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling, steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical, brake, cooling, air‑conditioning, and electronic systems using test instruments (handheld computers, pressure gauges, etc.).
  • Road test vehicles to verify functionality and resolve malfunctions.
  • Manage parts inventory on company‑issued service truck, perform periodic reconciliations, and obtain parts from approved vendors.
  • Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, including safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
  • Document work in Repair Orders (RO) on the company iOS device, uploading photos and parts used.
  • Complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Work independently, prioritizing tasks and managing daily schedule.
  • Comply with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety, health, and environmental policies.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Valid driver’s license (state‑of‑residence) and ability to obtain/maintain a Driver Qualification File.
  • CDL Class C license required.
  • Strong hand tools and diagnostic equipment available.
  • Must pass DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical (or submit a DOT medical card with >4 months remaining).
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repair techniques.
Required Certifications
  • ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Other ASE certifications (e.g., T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, 608/609) are preferred.
Skills & Abilities
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, and stand for long periods; perform moderate heavy labor and repetitive tasks.
  • Strong communication skills, able to convey information succinctly and engage effectively with clients and team members.
  • Problem‑solving skills, including logical reasoning and identifying optimal solutions.
  • Judgment to select appropriate tools and equipment for tasks.
  • Ability to assess distances accurately for safety and maintenance tasks.
Benefits
  • Hourly base pay $26.73 – $40.10/hr (variable within range).
  • New Hire Bonus up to $2,500 (50% after 30 days, 50% after 180 days).
  • Weekly pay every Friday.
