Service Technician – Commercial HVAC

Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $30-$68
Responsibilities- Perform electrical and mechanical inspection and maintenance on equipment to ensure peak performance
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks including belt adjustments, oiling, greasing, and cleaning of equipment
- Use experience and technical skills to determine service requirements and system operations
- Interpret engineering drawings in reference to layout, location, and operation of the system(s)
- Represent the company positively to other trades, contractors and owners
- Advise owners/representatives on preventive maintenance inspections performed and corrective actions to be taken
- Suggest additional services that are beneficial to customers
- Work in a team-based environment to share information and workload while ensuring customer satisfaction
- Submit required paperwork to Service Coordinator in a timely manner
- Work safely on a daily basis and ensure all safety measures are taken at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training plus 1-5 years of experience as a Service Helper or Service Technician
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency with handheld computers (e.g., smartphone, iPad)
- Electrical knowledge required and EPA Certification preferred (e.g., HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer)
- Ability to work in diverse conditions, including mechanical equipment rooms, noisy operating equipment, extreme weather, and risk of electrical shock
- Ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel and regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds, frequently up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance multiple duties
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write correspondence; ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; solve problems involving several variables in standardized situations; prioritize multiple tasks with mental stamina.
Environmental RequirementsWill be required to work in a field environment, multiple customer sites on a daily basis.
Physical DemandsRegular use of hands to operate computer keyboard; frequent standing, walking, and sitting; continual climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; regular lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds, frequently up to 75 pounds; specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
