Job DescriptionThe Auto Body Technician is responsible for evaluating and repairing vehicles to restore them to their pre‑accident condition. The role requires meticulous assessment, use of specialized tools, and collaboration with team members to meet key performance indicators while serving as a brand ambassador for The Boyd Group.
Key Job Responsibilities- Plan repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers.
- Use cutting tools, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
- Shape and remove dents, dimples, and minor body damage; mix and apply filler resins when necessary.
- Realign chassis and frames to address structural damage.
- Remove damaged parts and replace them with new or aftermarket components.
- Repair or replace glass and windshields.
- Repair interior components as needed.
- Weld or otherwise attach and fit parts into place.
- Prepare and repaint vehicles with factory‑specified paint or agreed‑upon equivalents.
- Submit completed work orders within labor time guidelines.
- Inspect vehicles after repair to ensure correct execution.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3‑year auto body repair apprenticeship.
Required Skills/Abilities- Read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate effectively with other repairers in an auto body shop setting.
- Thorough understanding of auto body repair methods and procedures.
- Proficiency in the use of tools required for the trade.
- Work safely in a noisy area with strong odors.
- Lift up to 30 pounds and perform bending, stretching, kneeling, and squatting as necessary.
- Visually inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions.
