Join Our TeamThe Admiral at the Lake, a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located in Chicago's historic Lake Shore Drive neighborhood, is seeking a dependable and skilled Facilities Technician to join our Plant Operations team.
In this hands‑on role, you'll help maintain a safe, comfortable, and well‑functioning environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. If you enjoy solving problems, working with your hands, and take pride in maintaining beautiful facilities, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do- Complete maintenance work orders promptly and report any issues to your supervisor.
- Perform painting, drywall repair, patching, and surface preparation.
- Conduct routine maintenance of HVAC systems, including air filter replacement and basic thermostat troubleshooting.
- Repair minor plumbing issues and perform preventative maintenance.
- Install, repair, and maintain lighting fixtures while managing lighting inventory.
- Perform preventative maintenance on building systems, including plumbing, fire panels, pool equipment, and other facility systems.
- Assist with pool maintenance, including monitoring chemical levels, cleaning pool surfaces, and maintaining appropriate temperatures.
- Support building safety by inspecting life safety equipment, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, AEDs, emergency exits, and key control systems.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, equipment, and replacement parts.
- Assist with snow and ice removal during winter weather.
- Support administrative functions such as parking assignments, mailbox and key management, and resident storage assignments.
- Assist with parking garage operations, including garage door functionality and addressing vehicle‑related concerns.
- Submit invoices and receipts accurately and promptly for processing.
- Working knowledge of one or more skilled trades including:
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Carpentry
- Drywall
- Painting
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Experience working alongside contractors and vendors.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills, including email and computerized work order systems.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Must own basic hand tools required for daily maintenance work.

Requirements- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of facilities, building maintenance, or maintenance technician experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall repair, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems.
- Ability to read and understand work orders, manuals, and safety procedures.
- Basic computer skills, including email and computerized work order systems.
- Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with residents, vendors, and team members.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must own basic hand tools required for daily maintenance work.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
, climb ladders, bend, kneel, reach, and stand or walk for extended periods. - Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including assisting with snow and ice removal.
