Maintenance Technician A (III)

Transdev in Chicago, Illinois via our University of Chicago is seeking an experienced A-Level Diesel Mechanic to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Diesel Mechanic, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our diesel-powered assets.

Competitive compensation package of minimum $28.50 (27,360) – Maximum $32.00 (30,720)

Vacation: minimum of two weeks. Sick days: 5 days. Holidays: 12 days; 8 standard and 4 floating. 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short-term disability, voluntary long-term disability. Company paid ASE testing, training materials, and tool reimbursement.

• Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on diesel engines.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and accurate repairs.
• Complete preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
• Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for diesel engines.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge.
• Other duties as required.

• 5+ years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
• ASE certifications required; ASE certification program provided.
• Mechanic’s Tool Set.
• Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis.

• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• Employee will spend long periods sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
• Work environment will be a combination of indoors and outdoors.
