Maintenance Technician

This role focuses on performing preventive and corrective maintenance on a wide range of industrial equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled systems while supporting facility infrastructure, industrial wastewater treatment, and hazardous waste compliance. This position works closely with production and engineering teams to reduce downtime, improve processes, and maintain a clean, well-organized manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled systems to keep operations running safely and efficiently.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with motors, sensors, control systems, and related components.
  • Support industrial wastewater treatment systems and ensure hazardous waste handling aligns with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain facility infrastructure, including lighting, plumbing, and structural systems, to support a safe and functional work environment.
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and emergencies to minimize production disruptions.
  • Partner with production and engineering teams to identify root causes of equipment issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support machine chemistry maintenance to ensure proper operation of equipment and processes.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, including work on 3-phase power and control circuits, in accordance with safety standards.
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to guide maintenance and repair activities.
  • Follow OSHA standards and lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safe maintenance practices.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to complete maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Work safely with chemicals while using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Support overall facility operations by maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work area.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills for industrial equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with motors, sensors, and control systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC-controlled systems and PLC troubleshooting (PLC control experience; PLC knowledge considered a plus).
  • Proficiency in working with electrical systems, including 3-phase power and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience with hydraulics and hydraulic system maintenance.
  • Experience with pneumatics and pneumatic system maintenance.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and maintenance repair on industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals while wearing required PPE.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working as a maintenance technician or in a similar industrial maintenance role.
  • Comfort working with HVAC and industrial systems as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to a variety of production equipment.
  • Familiarity with industrial wastewater treatment processes and hazardous waste compliance.
  • Experience with PLC control systems and troubleshooting as an added advantage.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with production and engineering teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Comfort using diagnostic tools and test equipment for troubleshooting.
  • Attention to detail and strong documentation skills for maintenance records.
  • Willingness to learn from experienced team members and adapt to new technologies and processes.
