Responsibilities

  • Complete rough carpentry work, site logistical work, fencing, deck and platform building, protection systems, construction waste areas, and jobsite cleanup.
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements.
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders as needed.
  • Install structures and fixtures including windows, frames, floorings, trim, and hardware.
  • Review jobsite needs with superintendents and foremen, and coordinate construction.
  • Estimate, inventory, monitor, and request time, staff, materials, and equipment needed to complete work.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, backhoe, skid steer, excavator, compactor, and construction hoist.
  • Assist with overall site safety and quality programs as required, including daily participation in Pre-Task Plans, and ensure Trade employees/subcontractors compliance with Turner standards and all applicable safety codes, regulations, and jobsite security.
  • Inspect all tools and power tools before use to ensure they are in safe and working condition.
  • Comply with written safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other employees.
  • Ability to travel and accommodate night and weekend work as needed.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Display a high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.
  • Complete other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Benefits

The hourly rate for this position is $58.51 per union agreement. Benefits are determined by the applicable Trade Union and may include medical, dental and vision coverage, financial benefits such as 401k plan or Pension, and wellness benefits. Qualifications
  • Valid union card.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of carpentry experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of construction surveying.
  • Ability to understand and interpret project drawings.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction carpentry.
  • Knowledge of foundations and framing of buildings or other structures.
  • Basic arithmetic and geometry applied to carpentry.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including uses, repair, and maintenance associated with carpentry and woodworking.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to accommodate night and weekend work as needed.
  • Comprehend safety instructions and signage.
  • Clear communication skills, especially in emergency situations.
Physical Demands

Standing, walking, combined standing/walking, and sitting are performed constantly, frequently, or occasionally. Lifting/Lowering/Carrying weights under 25 lbs, 25 – 50 lbs, or over 50 lbs are performed as described. Reaching above and below shoulder height, bending/twisting neck, bending at waist, balancing, pushing/pulling, squatting, kneeling, climbing, crawling, repetitive motion, hand/wrist flexion – extension, noise, dust, chemical exposures, confined space hazards, and working on heights are regular elements of the job.

Vision and hearing abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus, and hearing with or without aids.

Work Environment

The work environment includes onsite construction sites where employees are exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electric shock. The noise level is usually moderate to loud. Employees are required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
