job summary

under the supervision of the district maintenance supervisor, performs non-routine and complex engineering assignments. Responsible for elements of an entire project of relatively limited scope, or a portion of a larger diverse project that may involve planning, design, construction, and/or maintenance. Performs or directs various traffic control coordination, various field surveys/investigations, preparation of plan details, inspections, measurements, and/or calculations. Supervises and assigns subordinate employees to specific tasks and functions.

Performs other duties as assigned.

minimum qualifications
  • possession of a high school diploma or general education development (ged) certification is required.
  • four (4) years of full- time work experience supervising, operating, or maintaining highways and their appurtenances, such as pavement, drainage systems, bridges, and landscaping within roadway jurisdiction, which includes three (3) years of full-time work experience as a laborer or motor vehicle driver (road repairman); or two (2) years full-time work experience in a supervisory or crew leader/foreman role is required.
  • experience in snow and ice roadway removal operations is required.
  • valid driver's license and proof of insurance is required.
this position is considered a safety-sensitive position. Candidates who are selected to fill safety-sensitive positions must pass a required drug test as part of the pre-employment background check process.

physical requirements

medium work involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
