Position Overview /Duties- INTRODUCTION:
- Operates Engineering Equipment, small crafts, and performs a variety of skilled duties involved in the operation, maintenance and repair of district facilities including coastal navigation structures, confined disposal facilities, and buildings and grounds, requiring the use of various trade practices. The operator is responsible for ensuring that all equipment is maintained in accordance with safety and operational standards.

- DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT/DUTIES:
Operate Engineering Equipment, operates small watercraft, and performs a variety of skilled duties. - Operate a wheel loader at a stone storage facility to stack, remove, and move 3 to 18 ton armor stones between storage piles and barge-loading crane working position.
- Operate a bulldozer moving dredge material to effectively utilize the full capacity of the facility and prepare for future dredge material disposal operations.
- Operate track loaders and excavators to clear steep jagged shoreline areas consisting of high mounds of concrete debris, vegetation growth, trees and tree stumps.
- Operate track loader with bucket, blade, and trencher on uneven and muddy terrain to construct new gravel roadways.
- Operate small watercrafts such as motor boats to ferry personnel and supplies to offshore facilities to perform work.
- Performs routine carpentry maintenance and painting work at District facilities. Maintains and repairs various project buildings, fencing and grounds and assists in the maintenance of District facilities. Responsible for safety of vessel, passengers, and cargo.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
- Experience Requirement: WG-8 Level: Experience must show that you have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex: clear steep jagged shorelines containing buried concrete debris, trees/tree stumps; move stones on steep slopes, graded curves and shoulders; reuse/reshape soil into berms; operate bulldozer, track loader and excavator close to drop-offs, rocks, or other obstructions. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.
- WG-10 Level: Experience must show that you have the ability to perform operating multiple types of heavy engineering equipment such as motor graders, excavators, bulldozers, and front-end loaders. The ability to perform complex and precise tasks, including grading earth to fine specifications, breaking new ground on uneven terrain, and working close to obstructions.
