Field Service Representative (Automation) – Chicago, IL
Field Service Representative (Automation) position located in Chicago, IL. The role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing metal fabrication machinery across the United States, with a primary focus on automation systems. The role requires traveling 75–90% of the time, usually overnight, and providing on-site customer and product service via preventive and corrective maintenance.
Responsibilities- Complete machine service for customers
- Prepare and submit documentation for efficient invoicing
- Maintain company property for safe operation and maximum life
- Efficiently manage business expenses to maximize profitability
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and assist in establishing preventative maintenance schedules with customers
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles
- Strong diagnostics and technical aptitude
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to travel overnight 75–90% of the time
- Superb communication skills with an emphasis on customer service
- Strong PC and organizational skills
- 3 years of industrial maintenance (or related military experience), including troubleshooting
- Associate’s degree or higher
- Technical or other relevant training
- Detail oriented – capable of carrying out a task with all necessary details
- Functional expert – considered a thought leader on a subject
- Self‑starter – inspired to perform without outside help
