Description

The Electrician II is a skilled trades professional responsible for independently installing, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing residential electrical systems within a modular home manufacturing facility. This role performs complex electrical installations while ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), company quality standards, and production schedules. The Electrician II also serves as a mentor to Electrician I team members, helping improve productivity, workmanship, and safety across the production line.

Requirements Responsibilities
  • Independently install complete residential electrical systems in modular homes, including branch circuits, service panels, lighting, switches, receptacles, GFCI/AFCI protection, smoke detectors, and low‑voltage wiring.
  • Install, wire, and terminate electrical panels, load centers, disconnects, and service equipment according to NEC and company standards.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, production drawings, and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot electrical installation issues and identify root causes before homes move to the next production station.
  • Perform quality inspections and functional testing of electrical systems prior to module completion.
  • Verify proper circuit continuity, grounding, polarity, and breaker labeling.
  • Coordinate electrical work with framing, plumbing, HVAC, insulation, drywall, and finish departments to maintain production flow.
  • Assist with engineering changes, product improvements, and prototype builds.
  • Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to Electrician I employees.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve workflow, and increase production efficiency using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Maintain accurate production documentation and quality inspection records.
  • Assist supervisors with material planning, inventory management, and identifying shortages.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety policies.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas using 5S principles.
  • Support final quality inspections and assist with resolving punch-list items prior to shipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of residential electrical installation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of residential wiring methods and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to independently read and interpret electrical blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience installing electrical systems in residential construction or manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to safely use electrical testing equipment including multimeters, circuit analyzers, and continuity testers.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
  • Experience in modular, manufactured, or panelized home construction.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Thorough understanding of residential electrical systems and installation techniques.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes.
  • Ability to diagnose and correct installation issues quickly without impacting production schedules.
  • Strong understanding of production quality standards and first-pass quality expectations.
  • Ability to mentor and train entry-level electricians.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a production environment.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders, and work overhead.
  • Perform repetitive tasks using hand and power tools.
  • Work inside partially completed modular homes and manufacturing facilities.
  • Manual dexterity to install wiring, electrical devices, and panels.
