Industrial Electrician Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Electrician to join a high-volume manufacturing facility in Chicago, Illinois
. The Industrial Electrician will play a critical role in maintaining electrical systems, production equipment, and manufacturing operations to ensure maximum equipment reliability and minimal production downtime.

The successful candidate will troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, and repair complex industrial electrical systems and production equipment. This position requires strong hands-on experience with 480V electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, electrical troubleshooting, electrical schematics, and LOTO procedures
.

The Industrial Electrician will work closely with maintenance, engineering, production, and other plant teams to identify equipment issues, perform preventive maintenance, improve operational reliability, and ensure compliance with all applicable safety and quality standards.

Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and must be available to work 2nd or 3rd shift schedules
.

• Perform industrial electrical maintenance and repairs on manufacturing and production equipment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex electrical and equipment issues.
• Troubleshoot and maintain PLC and VFD systems
  .
• Work safely with 480V electrical systems
  .
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams schematics, and technical documentation.
• Perform preventive and progressive maintenance activities.
• Identify potential electrical and equipment failures before they result in production downtime.
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and restore production operations.
• Identify, track, and report technical and equipment losses.
• Follow all plant safety, electrical safety, and quality procedures.
• Strictly follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and arc-flash safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, and other plant personnel.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability and electrical systems.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 7+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience preferred.
• Proven hands-on experience with 480V electrical systems
  .
• Strong experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems.
• Hands-on experience with PLC systems
  .
• Hands-on experience with VFDs / Variable Frequency Drives
  .
• Experience troubleshooting complex manufacturing and production equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and electrical blueprints.
• Knowledge of industrial electrical safety practices.
• Experience with LOTO / Lockout-Tagout procedures.
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Experience with PLC programming and logic modification
  .
• Experience with industrial control systems and coding.
• Technical certification or degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics
  , or a related field.
• Experience in food manufacturing, bakery, FMCG, packaging, or high-volume production environments.
• Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
