Position Summary
Maintains, diagnoses, and repairs trailers used for transporting goods.
Responsibilities- Serves, inspects, and repairs tractor‑trailers.
- Diagnoses failures and repairs mechanical, electrical, and various trailer systems.
- Uses hydraulic jacks and hoists to access the underside of trailers.
- Conducts full inspections to identify issues.
- Tests trailers after repairs to ensure proper operation.
- Maintains detailed records of all service and maintenance activities.
- Repairs defective parts such as brakes, tires, axles, wiring, and hydraulic systems.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Must provide and maintain personal maintenance tools.
- Read, write, communicate, and comprehend English to perform tasks such as conversing with co‑workers, understanding oral and written instructions, responding to inquiries from management and government officials, and accurately reviewing and completing documents, reports, and records.
- Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of trailer mechanic experience.
- Proficiency in diagnostic software.
- Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying of tools, parts, and equipment up to 100 pounds.
- Regular use of hands and arms for handling tools, reaching overhead, and working in tight spaces.
- Ability to climb on, under, and around large trucks and equipment safely.
- Adequate vision (with or without correction) to read gauges, manuals, and perform detailed inspections.
- Adequate hearing (with or without aids) to detect equipment sounds, communicate, and follow safety signals.
$32.45 - $37.10 per hour, based on experience.
