1st shift Welder

Job Description

Monday to Friday 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications using a straightedge, combination square, caliper and/or ruler
• Welds components and assemblies using electric, gas, arc and other welding equipment
• Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications
• Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances using a micrometer, caliper and precision measure instruments
• Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc
• Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly and welding operations
• Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts
• Determines required equipment and welding method, applies knowledge of metallurgy, geometry and welding techniques
• Other duties as assigned

Competencies:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Must be able to interpret or follow drawings
• Knowledge of welding techniques
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Must maintain a labor efficiency of at least 90% or higher at all times
• Must take and pass written math test
• Must take and pass forklift certification
• Ability to lift approximately 75 lbs.

Required education and experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year of related experience and/or training
• Equivalent combination of education and experience
