Responsibility Summary

Drivers safely transport clients, staff, partners, and items to and from Chicago

CAC and other designated locations in a timely manner.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Transport clients and their families to Chicago

    CAC and return them home as directed.
  • Transport staff, partners, and others as directed.
  • Pick up and drop off items and materials for Chicago

    CAC staff as directed.
  • Treat all passengers courteously and respectfully.
  • Operate vehicles in a safe manner, observing all traffic laws.
  • Ensure passenger safety, vehicle cleanliness, and routine maintenance.
  • Accurately track time taken per assignment and enter into ETO tracking system.
  • Communicate effectively with Chicago

    CAC Reception to ensure staff, partners, and clients are aware of transportation status/changes.
  • Assist in special events and projects as directed, which may include lifting heavy objects and other manual labor.
  • Relieve Security for lunch breaks (when feasible).
  • Provide Reception/ Security desk coverage on weekends as needed.
  • Answer switchboard accurately, professionally and politely.
  • Displays a positive attitude and maintain a professional appearance. Observes the confidential nature of services to our clients.
  • Directs calls to appropriate staff and/or voicemail and records written messages, when necessary.
  • Receives all visitors in a pleasant and welcoming manner, arranges for their comfort and informs appropriate staff of their arrival.
  • Observe and comply with all security measures that are in place.
  • Maintain the Reception area, keeping it clean, picking up toys, etc. throughout the day.
  • Receive and sort incoming mail and place it in the appropriate mailboxes
    • Call police, fire department, ambulance and/or security monitoring company in case of emergency or to notate false alarm.
    • Answer alarms and assist with the investigation of the source of alarm.
    • Assist with transportation using the Lyft and Uber Program.
    • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities and apprise supervisor of such (i.e., damage to vehicles, presence of unauthorized vehicles/persons, etc.)
    • ETO Data Entry for Transportation from the Lyft/Uber entry log.
    • Maintain the Reception area, keeping it clean, picking up toys, replenishing coffee etc. throughout the day.
    • Answer switchboard accurately, professionally and politely.
    • Directs calls to appropriate staff and/or voicemail and records written messages, when necessary.
    • Participate in local networking and training opportunities.
    • Communicate fluently in Spanish and translate as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Discretion

    Drivers have a mid-level range of discretion and independent decision-making.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position does not supervise any other position.

    Relationships

    Drivers work closely with the Child Life and Transportation Manager, Support Services, Mental Health, Intake, and Advocacy teams.

    Qualifications
    • Minimum educational requirement of high school diploma or equivalent
    • Clean driving record and safe driving skills, with a knowledge of Chicagoland streets
    • Excellent teamwork and communications skills
    • Proficiency in e-mail and Internet usage
    • Bilingual Spanish required
