Division Overview

Youth & Family Services (YFS) assists parents and youth with developing and restoring healthy relationships. This division collaborates with human services, child welfare systems, juvenile courts, and community-based service providers to assist individuals and families obtain the services and skills needed to live in positive, healthy ways.

We are currently looking for a full‑time Court Assessor.

Starting at $44,676 – $47,650 contingent upon experience, education, etc.

Summary

This position will conduct intake and screen clients for appropriate participation in assigned program for referrals to ancillary services and maintain all required documentation. It is responsible for bringing services, agencies, resources and other people together to assist a client in achieving established goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Intake Assessor will complete daily face‑to‑face substance abuse assessments and/or provide triage to the appropriate community referral based on client’s needs.
  • Utilize ASAM level of care principles in assessment/diagnostic procedures.
  • Complete strengths and needs assessment.
  • Communicate and collaborate with juvenile court personnel as needed.
  • Upon assessment of the client, the Intake Assessor coordinates with Recovery Coach and client is referred to an internal or external treatment provider, depending on client needs.
  • Assist supervisor with new client orientation and intake.
  • Follow agency’s safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete and maintain all required documentation pertaining to clients.
  • If detoxification services are required the JCAP assessor will coordinate admission between detox unit and treatment program.
  • May refer to methadone stabilization prior to referral to residential treatment.
  • Referral of client to specific treatment which provides the recommended level of care.
  • Ensure appropriate screening of medical and behavioral emergency conditions.
  • Considerable knowledge of the current ASAM placement criteria, DSM‑V as it relates to substance‑related disorders, and Code of Ethics for substance abuse professionals, or the ability to acquire the knowledge.
  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed care models of service.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication skills.
Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • CADC certification.
  • Must be able to pass DCFS Background check.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated experience in group facilitation.
  • Certain programs may require a higher level of education, certification and/or licensures based on contractual obligations.
  • Ability to take initiatives and have creativity.
  • Flexibility in thinking and approaches to leading group discussions.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
