Salary Range

$49,144-$55,663; commensurate with experience. Additional stipends of ($5,500) and ($3,500)

Job Goal

To provide comprehensive counseling, social‑emotional support, and case management services to students, while coordinating special education processes and serving as a liaison among school, home, and community agencies to support student achievement and well‑being.

Qualifications
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Worker and/or School Counselor endorsement required
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and Illinois School Code
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, families, and outside agencies
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Performance Responsibilities
  • Student Support Services
    • Provide individual and group counseling to address students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs
    • Conduct student observations, assessments, and social developmental studies as part of evaluation processes
    • Assist in identifying student needs and developing appropriate interventions and supports
    • Support development of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and transition plans
    • Provide parent education and support related to student needs
  • Case Management and Special Education Coordination
    • Coordinate and facilitate all aspects of the special education process, including referrals, evaluations, eligibility, IEP meetings, and annual reviews
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal timelines, procedures, and documentation requirements
    • Schedule and organize meetings, ensuring appropriate staff participation and required documentation
    • Coordinate the collection and review of evaluation data and reports
    • Maintain accurate and confidential student records and case files
    • Serve as liaison between the school, families, and outside agencies regarding student services
    • Coordinate out-of-district placements and related processes as assigned
  • Consultation and Collaboration
    • Serve as a resource to teachers, administrators, and support staff regarding student needs and interventions
    • Participate in MTSS and problem‑solving teams
    • Collaborate with staff on behavior management strategies and student supports
    • Provide professional development and training as needed
    • Assist in identifying service gaps and developing additional supports
  • Family and Community Engagement
    • Serve as liaison between school, home, and community agencies
    • Facilitate access to community resources and services for students and families
    • Assist with referrals to outside agencies and service providers
    • Support follow‑up related to attendance concerns and crisis situations
  • Compliance and Documentation
    • Develop and contribute to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
    • Maintain service logs, documentation, and reports in accordance with district and regulatory requirements
    • Support Medicaid billing processes as applicable
    • Maintain records of referrals, evaluations, and service delivery
  • Other Duties
    • Participate in crisis intervention and emergency response as needed
    • Perform other duties as assigned by administration
