Position DescriptionThis Case Manager oversees the progression of individual trainees through their enrollment, participation, and completion of RW’s Trades Pre‑Apprenticeship Program. This role will be the main point of contact for trainees in the program and support the attainment of trainee goals. The day-to-day work includes teaching soft skills classes, coaching, accountability, goal planning, and barrier removal. This role must have knowledge of the social services available in Chicago and have a strong base of strengths‑based coaching.
All RW staff are expected to uphold the values of the organization in the work they do.
- This position reports directly to the Program Manager.
Monday through Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. Occasional evening and/or weekend events required and will flex hours accordingly.
Roles and Responsibilities- Lead in the support services (both internal and external) for each trainee based on individual need, which include but are not limited to transportation assistance, expungement, child care, financial issues, housing, and facilitated trips to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Work with trainees to develop plans to overcome barriers to employment through one‑on‑one sessions.
- Conduct one‑on‑one assessments and goal check‑in sessions to assist each trainee in their financial goals while enrolled in training.
- Teach weekly executive functioning classes, including but not limited to goal setting, conflict resolution, and time management.
- Teach weekly financial capabilities classes, including but not limited to income and expenses, budgeting 101, banking, assets and liabilities, and debt.
- Support the promotion of the Revolution Workshop program to community‑based organizations by email, telephone, informationals, and personal visits.
- Assist in the screening and selecting of all participants for Revolution Workshop programs through in‑person interviews.
- Responsible for collecting all grant eligibility documentation and working with staff to input all data into various databases based on funding and program needs.
- Maintain Revolution Workshop’s internal trainee database (Salesforce), including updating case notes on each individual.
- Assist with the planning and development of Revolution Workshop programs and events.
- Assist trainees in creating a budget while in training.
- Attend occasional meetings and events such as fundraisers and staff meetings.
- Work with the trainee to navigate financial assistance needed.
- Other tasks assigned by supervisor.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.
- At least three years’ experience working with diverse groups.
- Nonprofit experience preferred.
- Knowledge and experience working with underserved individuals through approaches that emphasize resiliency, strength‑based coaching, and trauma‑informed care.
- Understanding of the social service resources available to underserved individuals throughout Chicago and the surrounding area.
- Excellent computer skills – Google G Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Gmail, etc.), Microsoft Office, Excel, and ability to learn new systems and databases.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Detail‑oriented.
- Takes initiative, able to anticipate program needs.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills.
- Recognizes and responds to emerging priorities, allowing for flexibility in schedule.
