General Staff Hours

8:00am – 3:30pm CT, Monday – Friday.

Occasional responsibilities beyond normal work hours may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Student Support, Coaching & Self-Advocacy
    • Supervision & Behavioral Management:
      Supervise students in groups and individually, ensuring behavior aligns with program expectations.
    • Student Counseling:
      Counsel students on personal, social, behavioral, or academic issues affecting progress.
    • Person-Centered Planning:
      Ensure students lead or participate in their own IEP transition meetings, using assistive technology or visual choice boards for non-verbal communication.
    • Goal Realism & Guidance:
      Manage conflicts between post‑secondary dreams, parental wishes, and skill realities, using strategies such as career‑testing, job shadowing, and stepping‑stone goals.
  • Compliance, Data, & Transition Assessments
    • Student Evaluations:
      Evaluate abilities, interests, and personality characteristics using tests, records, interviews, and professional sources.
    • Multi‑Faceted Assessment:
      Administer age‑appropriate formal and informal assessments for independent living, travel/transit skills, and work behaviors.
    • IDEA Compliance:
      Apply knowledge of IDEA transition mandates to draft compliant, measurable post‑secondary goals and pivot plans based on assessment data.
    • Rigorous Progress Tracking:
      Use digital tracking tools, rubric‑based feedback, and student self‑monitoring checklists.
  • Collaboration, Networking & Program Development
    • Community Site Development:
      Build relationships with community sites, public transit systems, and external agencies.
    • Work‑Based Opportunities:
      Develop work‑study programs, internships, and volunteer opportunities.
    • Agency Connections:
      Facilitate handovers to agency contacts and connect students with VR, Pre‑ETS, and developmental disability boards.
    • Business Empathy & Partnerships:
      Engage local businesses, pitching inclusive hiring benefits and the value of transitioning students.
  • Workplace Intervention & Crisis Management
    • Workplace Learning Labs:
      Safely intervene during work‑based placement friction or behavioral incidents.
    • Student Independence

      Coaching:

      Use workplace incidents as live curriculum to coach students in navigating portals, records, legal accommodations, and professional relationships.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
  • Background in education or social work preferred.
  • Regulatory Knowledge:
    Demonstrate deep knowledge of IDEA transition mandates.
  • Transition & Coaching

    Experience:

    Documented experience placing and coaching students into jobs and into college, career, and independent life.
  • Systemic Mindset:
    Demonstrated focus on real‑world resources, community networks, and public transit.
  • Behavioral & Performance Knowledge:
    Knowledge of human behavior, performance, and specific student needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD).
  • Professional

    Soft Skills:

    High professionalism, strong decision‑making, and calm, transparent communication across varied audiences.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary Range: $40,000 to $75,000 annually.
  • Benefits:
