Community Relations Representative I
Under supervision of the school principal, the Community Relations Representative acts as a liaison between the school, community, parents, and students to improve school and community relations, student attendance, and student performance related to drug abuse or other required issues.
Essential Functions- Provide support to schools and community relations; identify existing resources and services.
- Work with students and families of students with truancy problems to identify causes and develop interventions.
- Develop a resource network of community organizations, students, parents, and guardians to provide services and sponsorship to communities not directly served by the Chicago Public Schools.
- Assist in compiling periodic activity reports for submission to supervisory staff.
- Meet with community organizations to obtain information and leverage resources available for distribution to students and their families.
- Provide public speaking, presenting, and communication skills as needed to organize community outreach programs.
- Graduation from an accredited educational institution with an associate’s degree or 2‑year college–level coursework, or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Good knowledge of various community organization and social service agencies that serve the community in which the school is located.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with various community organizations and social service agencies that serve the community where the school is located.
- Good interpersonal and human relations skills; effective oral and written communication skills.
- Physical requirements:
Light work, exercising up to 20 pounds of force commonly, up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and a noticeable amount of force when required to move various objects or when walking or running quickly onto a specific degree.
