Position: Mentor – School-Based Mentor (Part-Time)

Position Summary: The Mentor provides direct support to at‑risk youth within school settings, facilitating relationship‑building, academic engagement, and social‑emotional development. Mentors deliver peace circles, hall monitoring, behavioral interventions, and facilitate connections to additional resources. They report to Senior Mentors and play a vital frontline role in BON’s school programs.

Reports to: Senior Mentor (Site Supervisor)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build trusting relationships with students and provide individualized mentorship.
  • Facilitate group sessions such as peace circles and cognitive‑behavioral activities.
  • Monitor hallways to ensure student attendance and engagement.
  • Collaborate with school staff and families to support student success.
  • Collect and submit accurate data on attendance, behavior, and progress.
  • Maintain compliance with BON policies including mandatory reporting.
  • Participate in training and staff meetings; contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with youth in educational or social service settings preferred.
  • Understanding of trauma‑informed and restorative approaches (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and reliability.
  • Commitment to youth development and BON’s mission.
