BID/JOB ANNOUNCEMENT DISABILITY SERVICE COORDINATOR MAYOR'S OFFICE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Starting Annual Salary: $74,160 This position is open to the public and all current City employees covered under the City's collective bargaining agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) – BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5.

The Disability Services Coordinator will support the department by leading MOPD's youth employment program and assisting in planning outreach and community events for Chicago's disability community . ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Leads MOPD's youth employment and internship program
· Conducts research and prepares reports and resource guides to promote accessibility and inclusion
· Supports MOPD in the planning and implementation of MOPD events and advisory committees
· Supports MOPD's Accessible Communications team to prepare content for MOPD's newsletter, press releases, website, and social media
· Updates MOPD's Access Calendar to ensure our disability community is aware of accessible events happening throughout the city
· Manages inquiries from the public sent to MOPD email accounts
· Assists individuals in MOPD's Accessible Tech Lab
· Answers questions related to MOPD services and provides referrals to other city departments, sister agencies, and community partners, as needed
· Represents MOPD at outreach events to raise awareness of the department's programs and services
· Works with Accessibility Inspectors to document survey findings and prepare reports for final review
· Maintains records to update MOPD's Housing Locator Additional duties may be required for this position.

9:00AM – 5:00PM THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE
· Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Public/Community Health, Communications, or a directly related field, plus two (2) years of disability advocacy work experience; OR
· Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or higher in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Public/Community Health, Communications or a directly related field, plus one (1) year of disability advocacy work experience. SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a written exercise as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected. Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
· Preference for candidate who has lived as a person with a disability
