Purpose of position
The Outreach Coordinator (OC) serves as a key Loyola team member of the OVW Justice for Families (JFF) funded supervised visitation and safe exchange center at Loyola University (LSVC). The main role is is to expand direct outreach through potential partners, including Chicago Public Schools and domestic violence and health and mental health advocacy organizations, in order to facilitate active client recruitment into the LSVC from amongst the agency targeted service population for measurable increase in impact
OC Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement outreach in targeted community in coordination with Project Director and Grant PI
- Develop outreach activities and community engagement programs that align with the LSVC mission and goals.
- Identify and build relationships with community partners and stakeholders including Chicago Public Schools and domestic violence and health and mental health advocacy organizations.
- Assist the Visitation Director in developing a robust Internship Program.
- Generate data for monitoring the effectiveness of visitation services through client feedback, supporting in making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Debriefs with parents and children before/after supervised visitation/exchanges and conducts weekly check-in by phone with parents to collect client satisfaction data
- Provides supportive referrals for parents as appropriate.
- Facilitates supervised visits and exchanges between parents at the LSVC site.
- Participates in staff meetings, training, and technical assistance opportunities as well as other Justice for Families related meetings as assigned.
- Maintains professional relationships with parents and children while treating everyone with respect. Engages in ongoing assessment and evaluation of the family's goals.
- Ensures successful execution of standards, policies and procedures of confidentiality and programming focused on empowerment and safety.
- Provides an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces non-violent, non-manipulative, non-coercive behavior and communication skills, and respect and empathy for self and others.
Work Site Specifics
The LSVC site is located near the Lakeside Loyola Campus in Rogers Parks on Sheridan Road near public transportation
Work schedule includes advanced scheduled weekend hours and/or some limited weekday hours to accommodate on-site scheduled visitation and safe exchange sessions based agency staff capacity.
Minimum Education and/or Work ExperienceBachelor's degree in social work, counseling or related field plus one to two years' experience working with children and families or working with intimate partner violence or related social services or anti-oppression experience/training or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to always communicate professionally and ethically and maintain productive working relationship with colleagues. Ability to maintain a non-judgmental attitude when working with others whose values and beliefs may contrast with the VC's values and beliefs.
Consistently able to demonstrate listening skills and common sense while demonstrating a caring and understanding attitude towards participants, co-workers, Loyola students and other agencies.
Ability to always communicate professionally and ethically and maintain productive working relationship with colleagues. Ability to maintain a non-judgmental attitude when working with others whose values and beliefs may contrast with the VC's values and beliefs. - Master's degree
- Bilingual Spanish-English
40-hour domestic violence trained or ability to complete training within 12 weeks of hire.
