Youth Engagement Specialist

The Youth Engagement Specialist (YES) provides direct, individualized support to youth in residential and drop-in programs. This role supports young people who may have experienced homelessness, trauma, or other significant challenges. Using a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach, the YES helps create a safe, welcoming environment and supports youth through daily activities and moments of crisis.

• Supervise and engage youth in daily activities while maintaining a safe, inclusive environment
• Supporting youth using Trauma-Informed Care, Harm Reduction, and Positive Youth Development practices
• Assist with individualized success plans and daily goal setting
• Facilitate groups, activities, and peer support meetings
• Assist youth with basic needs (meals, laundry, showers, lockers)
• Serve meals and prepare/distribute lunch bags as needed
• Conduct safety procedures including bag checks, and room searches
• Escorting youth to appointments and off-site activities
• Document interactions, incidents, and services in systems such as ETO
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all mandated reporting and safety guidelines
• Participate in trainings, meetings, and onboarding of new staff

• Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM or 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Schedule Options:
  Friday-Tuesday or Thursday-Monday
• Some weekends and holidays required (distributed equitably)

• Bachelor's degree in social work or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years of relevant experience
• Strong communication, crisis intervention, and teamwork skills
• Cultural competency and ability to support diverse youth, including LGBTQIA+ youth
• Willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid and administer Narcan
• Ability to pass background and MVR checks
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform light physical work
• Basic Microsoft Office skills; willingness to learn ETO
