Victim Witness Program Specialist; Regional

Summary

This position is located in the Office of Field Operations, Special Operations Division (SOD), Enforcement Support Branch (ESB), Victim Witness Assistance Program (VWAP). The incumbent serves as a Regional Victim Witness Coordinator (RVWC) performing a variety of victim witness coordination duties in support of Field Operations and is assigned to provide training and technical assistance to the VWAP.

• GS-12, Provide direct victim services to crime victims and training and support to field agents to ensure victims are being afforded their due rights and services.
• Monitor case management system and the Victim Notification System for updates.
• Work under the direction of the National Program Manager to establish partnerships with federal, state and local partners to enhance victim services.

Specialized experience

• Fundamental knowledge of the DOJ Attorney General Guidelines, the Victims Rights and Restitution Act, and the Crime Victims Rights Act; AND
• Providing direct support and services to victims and witnesses of crimes; AND
• Making oral presentations to large groups; AND
• Working with DOJ's Victim Notification System, or developing and maintaining an equivalent system to track victims.

• Extensive insight of crisis intervention techniques in order to implement a plan of action to address the needs of large numbers of victims/witnesses of mass casualty and catastrophic events; AND
• Measures program effectiveness and efficiency of procedures; AND
• Creates informational resources needed to advance the program's goals; AND
• Interpreting, explaining, and applying a body of laws, regulations, and procedures; AND
• Participation in community efforts to provide and promote victim assistance and awareness.
