Full-Stack Java Developer Angular

Planet Technology has partnered with a Chicago, IL company to locate a full-stack Java Developer for a contract role.

This position will be a hybrid role and requires 3 days a week onsite in Chicago. If you are not local to the Chicago area and cannot interview in person, please do not send your resume.

This is a full-stack role with a strong emphasis on Angular for the frontend, Java Spring Boot for the backend, and SQL-driven application design. You’ll collaborate closely with product, UX, analytics, and engineering teams to deliver high-impact, user-focused solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain responsive, high-performance UI components using Angular
• Develop and enhance RESTful APIs and backend services using Java Spring Boot
• Translate business and analytics requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Write and optimize SQL queries to support data-rich, analytics-driven features
• Partner with product managers, UX designers, and backend teams to deliver seamless user experiences
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and design sessions
• Ensure applications are secure, scalable, and reliable
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex full-stack issues
• Promote clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best practices

Required

Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years of professional experience in software development
• Strong expertise with Angular (v8+), including component-based architecture and state management
• Hands-on backend experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and integrations
• Must have experience working with Azure Cloud
• Strong SQL skills, including query optimization and working with complex datasets
• Experience with relational databases such as Postgre
  
  SQL, Oracle, MySQL, or SQL Server
• Proficiency with Git and modern CI/CD workflows
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate clearly across teams
