We are seeking an experienced Java Architect to lead the design, development, and modernization of enterprise Java applications. This role will play a key part in the client’s migration to IBM Web Sphere, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Java/J2EE/JSP, strong architectural judgment, and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
Responsibilities- Define and own the overall Java application architecture, ensuring alignment with business and technical goals
- Lead the design and development of enterprise applications using Java, J2EE, and JSP
- Provide architectural guidance and hands-on support during the migration to IBM Web Sphere
- Establish best practices for coding standards, performance, security, and scalability
- Review and approve technical designs, code, and deployment strategies
- Collaborate with developers, QA, Dev Ops, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive root-cause analysis
- Mentor and guide development teams on architecture and modern Java practices
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in Java application development, with at least 3+ years in an architect or technical lead role
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, J2EE, JSP, and enterprise Java frameworks
- Solid understanding of SOA, microservices architecture, and design patterns
- Experience designing and deploying applications in application server environments
- Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-facing skills
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
Skills:
- Hands-on experience with IBM Web Sphere Application Server (especially migrations or upgrades)
- Experience modernizing legacy Java applications
- Familiarity with Spring / Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and messaging frameworks
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
