Supernova is building the next generation of AI-powered solutions within financial technology. As an AI Software Engineer, you will help design and build practical, production-grade AI systems that power real-world workflows for enterprise clients.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on contributing to new AI product development while learning how to enhance and scale existing AI systems. You will work closely with experienced engineers, product managers, and designers to translate ideas into reliable backend services that integrate with large language models (LLMs) such as OpenAI and Anthropic.

We move quickly, experiment often, and care deeply about building AI systems that are reliable, secure, and impactful. This is not a maintenance-only role. You will contribute to meaningful AI features early in your tenure and grow into ownership of components of our AI platform over time.

• Contribute to the development of AI-driven backend services and APIs using Python and FastAPI.
• Support the implementation of scalable AI systems using Postgres, Redis, and cloud infrastructure.
• Assist in building and testing new AI-powered features from development through deployment.
• Maintain and improve existing AI services under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Integrate with large language model APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) and help optimize prompt workflows.
• Design and implement structured data models using Pydantic.
• Help implement caching, background tasks, and state management using Redis.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure reliability.
• Troubleshoot bugs and performance issues in AI workflows and backend services.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering standards.
• Stay current with emerging AI tools and best practices, sharing learnings with the team.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 1+ years of software development experience (internships, research, or strong personal side projects welcome).
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with backend application development.
• Experience with or exposure to FastAPI, Flask, or similar web frameworks.
• Basic understanding of relational databases such as Postgres.
• Exposure to APIs for AI/LLM providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) is a plus.
• Familiarity with Redis, Docker, or cloud environments is a plus.
• Understanding of REST APIs and backend architecture fundamentals.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and comfort working in evolving, ambiguous environments.
• Demonstrated curiosity and experimentation with AI tools or software projects outside of required coursework or job responsibilities.
• Ownership mindset with a bias toward building, testing, and iterating.
