Junior Machine Learning Engineer

Multi-Strategy hedge fund is seeking a Junior Machine Learning Engineer in the Chicago area. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing machine learning models and algorithms to automate various back-office processes. Your work will directly impact the efficiency of our operations, but it will not involve any direct involvement in our investment processes. You will collaborate closely with our infrastructure engineers to ensure that your solutions are scalable, secure, and integrated seamlessly into our existing systems.

• Develop and deploy machine learning models to automate back-office processes, such as trade reconciliation, reporting, compliance checks, and other operational tasks.
• Work closely with infrastructure engineers to integrate machine learning solutions with existing systems, ensuring scalability and security.
• Utilize Python, Snowflake, and Databricks to develop data pipelines, preprocess data, and implement machine learning algorithms.
• Continuously monitor and optimize machine learning models to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas where machine learning can add value and propose innovative solutions.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning and apply them to improve our processes.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in machine learning engineer, with a focus on automating business processes.
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with libraries such as Tensor Flow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, etc.
• Experience working with Snowflake and Databricks, including data pipeline development and management.
• Familiarity with SQL and data warehousing concepts.
• Experience collaborating with infrastructure engineers to deploy machine learning models in production environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge of financial services or hedge fund operations is a plus but not required.
