Senior Back End Engineer, Java​/Kotlin, Ktor, OpenTelemetry, JVM Technologies

Type: Full-time / Perm / Hybrid

Location: Chicago, IL (3 Days a Week On-site)

Base Salary Range: $135K - $185K/annually, depending on relevant experience.

This role is part of a cross-functional Engineering Team focused on building secure, reliable, high-performing back-end engineering services, and engineering consulting. You will contribute to the design, development, and ongoing improvement of server-side applications that support modern, scalable products.

• Strong emphasis on code quality, including practices such as Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and mature CI/CD workflows.
• Use of service-layer patterns that provide clean, consistent data interfaces to client applications.
• Cloud‑based environment with attention to scalability, maintainability, and comprehensive monitoring, using industry‑standard tooling.

• Senior‑level Back-End Engineer/Developer with 6+ years of hands‑on experience working with Java/Kotlin, Open Telemetry, Ktor, and JVM‑based technologies.
• Strong consulting background in a consultancy environment.
• Strong skills with Java/Kotlin, Open Telemetry, Ktor, and JVM‑based technologies.
