Sr. Cloud Engineer- Python​/Go & Distributed Systems

Job Summary

Free Wheel, a Comcast global advertising technology company, powers the buying, selling, and delivery of premium video advertising across linear TV, connected TV (CTV), and streaming platforms. Free Wheel provides enterprise‑scale software and marketplaces that enable programmatic ad‑tech solutions for media owners, advertisers, and agencies to manage, monetize, and measure advertising across linear TV, streaming, and digital video.

Free Wheel is executing a multi‑cloud strategy with testing and development underway on a new cloud platform. As a Sr. Software Engineer you will develop and support applications across multiple cloud environments, leveraging native cloud services while ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.

The role blends hands‑on User Interface (UI) development with production support. You will collaborate closely with internal engineering teams, vendors, and client services to drive automation, reliability, and operational excellence across large‑scale distributed systems.

• Design, analyze, and troubleshoot UI, API, and Search systems
• Troubleshoot large‑scale distributed systems
• Build applications that run across multiple cloud platforms, leveraging native cloud services
• Automate routine operational tasks to improve efficiency and reliability
• Provide production support, including monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis
• Support secure configurations, vulnerability remediation, and operational readiness
• Participate in software release cycles, including planning, testing, deployment, and monitoring
• Develop automation tools, scripts, and workflows to streamline processes
• Partner with engineering teams to identify and implement process and platform improvements
• Serve in a rotating on‑call roster, providing 12‑hour coverage for one week per month to support production systems

• 6+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong backend development, coding, and debugging skills
• Proficiency in one or more dynamic programming languages:
  Python or Go
• Experience developing and debugging server‑side applications or web services
• Strong working expertise with cloud environments (AWS strongly preferred), including native services such as EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, IAM
• Working knowledge of CI/CD frameworks and orchestration such as Jenkins, Git, Kubernetes, Terraform, and/or Docker
• Solid understanding of database structures and SQL
• Exposure to infrastructure‑as‑code concepts
