Sr. Software Engineer

Free Wheel, a Comcast company, provides a comprehensive video advertising platform for publishers, advertisers, and media buyers. The New York Engineering Hub is a core part of our global engineering group, responsible for building the one‑stop solution that enables the television industry to monetize their premium content.

• Construct and optimize the infrastructure of the ad delivery system with high concurrency, high availability, and low latency.
• Continuously optimize and reconstruct existing systems to support rapid business development.
• Lead end‑to‑end software development, including the software update process and roll‑outs of releases.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements and conduct integration analyses.
• Research, document, and review technical specifications, software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations.
• Provide technical leadership during design decisions and guide practices, procedures, and techniques.
• Serve as a mentor and guide for junior‑level Software Development Engineers.
• Present and defend architectural, design, and technical choices to internal audiences.
• Design, architect, and implement solutions utilizing AWS services, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies.
• Develop and manage highly scalable and reliable infrastructure on AWS, optimizing performance and cost efficiency.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and related orchestration tools, implementing security best practices and ensuring compliance.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and availability in the AWS cloud environment.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate requirements into technical designs and specifications.
• Document and maintain software functionality.
• Support overall business and solve technical issues.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in AWS, Kubernetes, and containerization, evaluating their impact on infrastructure and applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application‑related issues, working closely with operations and development teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement automation and optimization opportunities across infrastructure and deployment processes.
• Partner with global engineering, product, and operations teams to incorporate collective innovations.
• Mentor junior‑level software engineers.

• In‑depth understanding of cloud, containerization, and related technologies; familiarity with distributed architecture and commonly‑used middleware such as cache, message queue, Nginx, etc.
• 3–5 years of relevant work experience; experience with large‑scale online service design, development, and operation preferred.
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix with excellent data structure and algorithm foundation.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ or Golang and network programming.
• Experience with large system software design and development, distributed systems, and mission‑critical systems preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical innovation.
• Strong passion for learning new techniques; knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and Software Engineering methodology.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to work under pressure and support global teams, including flexibility for additional working time.
• Advertising industry experience is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent coursework and experience) in a related field.
