Senior Developer – Security Master Initiative
Clearwater Analytics is seeking a Senior Developer to join its Security Master initiative, supporting our OMS/PMS product line and an integrated Shared Security Master platform. This role focuses on building and improving security master systems that support millions of daily trade and order transactions as well as trillions of dollars in investment reporting.
Responsibilities- Developing quality software that is used by some of the world's largest technology firms, fixed income asset managers, and custodian banks.
- Participate in Agile meetings to contribute to development strategies and product roadmap.
- Own critical processes that are highly available and scalable.
- Produce tremendous feature enhancements and react quickly to emerging technologies.
- Encourage collaboration and stimulate creativity.
- Help mentor entry‑level developers.
- Contribute to design and architectural decisions.
- Provide leadership and expertise to our ever‑growing workforce.
- Test and validate in development and production code that is owned, deployed, and monitored.
- Understand, respond to, and address customer issues with empathy and in a timely manner.
- Independently move a major feature or service through an entire lifecycle of design, development, deployment, and maintenance.
- Have deep knowledge in multiple teams’ domains; broad understanding of CW systems.
- Create documentation of system requirements and behavior across domains.
- Willingly take on unowned and undesirable work that helps team velocity and quality.
- Be in touch with client needs and understand their usage.
- Consult on quality, scaling, and performance requirements before development of new features begins.
- Understand, find, and propose solutions for systemic problems.
- Lead the technical breakdown of deliverables and capabilities into features and stories.
- Be an expert in unit testing techniques and design for testability, and contribute to automated system testing requirements and design.
- Improve code quality and architecture to ensure testability and maintainability.
- Understand, design, and test for impact/performance on dependencies and adjacent components and services.
- Build and maintain code in the context and awareness of the larger system.
- Help less experienced engineers troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Be active in mentoring and training others inside and outside the division.
- 7+ years of professional experience with Java and SQL.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Background in SDLC & Agile practices.
- Experience in monitoring production systems.
- Experience working with messaging systems such as Cloud Pub/Sub, Kafka, or SQS/SNS.
- Ability to build scalable backend services (Microservices, polyglot storage, messaging systems, data processing pipelines).
- Possess strong analytical skills, with excellent problem‑solving abilities in the face of ambiguity.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Ability to contribute to software design documentation, presentations, sequence diagrams, and present complex technical designs in a concise manner.
- Professional experience in building distributed software systems, specializing in big data and No
SQL database technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Dynamo
DB, HBase, Hive, Cassandra, Vertica). - Ability to work with relational and No
SQL databases. - Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
$129,200 – $174,173 is the specified pay range for this position. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, other job‑related qualifications/skills, and geographic location. For this role, benefits include:
