Software Engineer, Backend Developer, AI Engineer (Applied​/Software)

A Boston based deep-tech startup building AI-driven infrastructure to modernize how low-level software is created, analyzed, and deployed are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join their team. Backed by leading investors and operating at Series A scale, the team combines AI research with serious systems and compiler expertise.

• Design and build AI-driven pipelines for large-scale code translation and analysis
• Own core backend architecture for agent-style, multi-step AI systems
• Turn research ideas into production-grade platforms
• Build scalable services that process and reason over code at scale
• Make key technical decisions across distributed and cloud-based systems

• 7+ years building production software (strong Python focus)
• Proven system design skills and experience owning complex backend services
• Comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous problem spaces
• Experience shipping scalable APIs and backend platforms
• Experience with AI/ML or agent-based systems would be beneficial

• Salary of $200,000 - $275,000 dependent on experience and location plus equity
• Senior-level ownership with real architectural influence
• Work on genuinely hard, high-impact AI + systems problems
