Job Summary

Senior Software Engineers will develop and maintain web application components for open‑source software platforms. They will analyze business and technical requirements, design, implement, test, review, and support applications, providing clear written documentation for programming code.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver technical tasks on time and at required quality level.
  • Participate in complex design and implementation activities.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing applications.
  • Mentor interns and new staff; provide technical leadership.
  • Assist in hiring, offering fair interview feedback.
  • Elaborate and communicate technical solutions internally and externally.
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve day‑to‑day technical problems using standard procedures.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for developmental programs.
  • Design applications under moderate guidance to meet university and business requirements.
  • Perform other related tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • College or university degree in a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a related software development discipline.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python (preferred), Golang, Java script, C/C++, Java, or C#.
  • Experience with web applications, REST APIs, microservices, and containerization.
  • Proficiency with configuration management (Chef, Salt, Ansible) and container solutions (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Open Stack) and CI/CD pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a quantitative field.
  • Full cycle software development experience including design, coding, testing, and support.
  • Advanced skills in at least one modern programming language or ability to rapidly acquire proficiency.
  • Knowledge of Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Spark, Hadoop, and data analysis.
  • Experience with high‑performance or cloud computing environments.
  • Unix/Linux programming experience and open‑source contribution.
  • Agile methodology experience and familiarity with version control.
Preferred Competencies
  • Collaboration and effective communication with team members.
  • Task decomposition, effort estimation, prioritization, and delivery.
  • Workload management to meet project milestones.
  • Adaptation and support of new tools or systems.
  • Provision of constructive feedback on technical issues.
  • In‑depth knowledge of one or more modern programming languages.
