Senior Software Engineer

Brooksource is seeking a hands‑on Senior Software Engineer to design, rebuild, and modernize cloud‑based platforms that support high‑volume, business‑critical systems. This role focuses on re‑architecting legacy applications into scalable, cloud‑native microservices while operating in a highly regulated environment where performance, security, and reliability are essential. This is a true engineering role requiring strong development experience in Java/Spring and a track record of building distributed systems.

• Lead technical architecture, design, and implementation of AWS cloud-native solutions
• Re-architect applications into microservices and rebuild cloud environments
• Build and execute technical roadmaps and deliver features to production
• Develop scalable, resilient, and secure systems
• Collaborate cross-functionally and influence technical decisions
• Own system components end-to-end including production support
• Implement testing strategies for quality and scalability
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes
• Support compliance, security, and risk management practices

• 6+ years hands‑on with Java/Spring (preferred)
• 6+ years building distributed systems, cloud platforms, or microservices
• Experience re‑architecting applications into cloud-native solutions
• Experience with AWS (highly preferred), GCP, or Azure
• Experience with event-driven architecture (Kafka, Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ)
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Dev Ops, Agile/Scrum
• Experience with React or Angular

• Monitoring/observability tools (App Dynamics)
• Financial services or Fin Tech experience (ACH, RTP, Fed Now)
• Cloud certifications (AWS or similar)
