Principal, Software Engineering: Java

What You'll Do:

This role will be responsible for the development and delivery of business features in that application, integrating with a variety of upstream data-sources and presenting data through the user interface, all while enriching and advancing the platform. This software must achieve a blend of data-rich presentation, performance, user experience, and the capacity to support the busiest trading days in the world economy with rock-solid reliability.

The candidate must be able to solve problems creatively, communicate effectively, and proactively engage in technical decision making to achieve these objectives. A team player and work well with business, technical and non-technical professionals in agile environment.

• Help build a stronger team to support in-house development as the vendor engagement comes to an end.
• Technically help team in areas of Dev Ops, backend development and UI development.
• Technically collaborating with other leads to figure out complex project solutions involving multiple systems
• Ensure good project health by helping solve complex issues and plan for future hurdles while keeping delivery timelines into perspective.
• Be hands on involved in coding, testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and documenting the systems
• Get the application ready to handle production by ensuring delivery and planning of nonfunctional aspects.
• Recommending technologies and tools that improve the efficiency and quality of OCC's systems and development processes.

• 15+ years of software development experience
• 10+ years of experience in Java based applications
• 4+ years of experience with cloud and Dev Ops (AWS, EKS, Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher, Harness)
• 4+ years of experience with CICD (Jenkins, JIRA, GIT)
• 2+ years of experience with distributed applications
• 2+ years of experience in JavaScript framework application development
• Experience with technically leading teams
• Experience with Relational and non-relational DB
• Experience with Logging / monitoring frameworks and tools
• Understanding of IAM and secure coding practices (OWASP, Sysdig, Black Duck, Veracode)
• Ability to write clean, bug-free code that is easy to understand and easily maintainable
• 'Get stuff done' and flexible mindset for greater good of the organization
• Intellectually curious and eager to learn

• Java based software development experience
• Web application development experience
• Experience working with four or more of the following:
  Unix/Linux environments, event-driven systems, transaction processing systems, distributed and parallel systems, large software system development, security software development, public-cloud platforms
• Understanding of functional programming, object-oriented design, industry best practices, software patterns, and architecture principles
• Understanding of the following types of testing: unit, integration, system, functional, non-functional, regression, performance, security, and acceptance
• Understanding of trouble shooting performance issues and multi-threaded development
• Experience with support and how to handle critical issues for prod like environments

• BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field required
• Masters preferred
