Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer for John Deere in Chicago, IL, you will:

  • Develop data model and data pipeline, build rest APIs to provide data to downstream systems;
  • Perform debugging and fixing application issues, root cause analysis and help in proactive/preventive maintenance;
  • Work as Agile team member and participate in back log refinement, sprint planning, sprint review, sprit retrospective;
  • Follow Security by design principles to define security framework around data pipelines and APIs;
  • Help new team member onboarding;
  • Analyze business needs and determine software specifications;
  • Lead design review activities to verify and demonstrate high-quality output for the data products and digital products;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs;
  • Collaborate with architecture team and principal engineers to develop coding standards, data pipeline standards, etc.;
  • Collaborate with engineers to improve quality, cost, and help in developing efficient software applications;
  • Lead efforts to implement best practices for software development, test automation and CI/CD;
  • Follow industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation;
  • Follow Security by design principles to design security framework around data pipelines and APIs;
  • Lead effort to setup team member onboarding processes and guidelines;
  • Mentor software engineers within the team and across multiple products.
What Skills You Need
  • 5 years of experience in perform data products design, development, and maintenance of scalable ETL solutions using (Abinitio, Talend, UNIX, SQL, AWS Services, Python, Apache Spark), including data modeling, and query optimization
  • 5 years of experience in provide leadership in full SDLC execution for applications, including requirement analysis, architecture design, development, integration, mentoring, code reviews, cross-team leadership, ownership of delivery, and end-to-end testing
  • 5 years of experience in establish data pipelines that perform acquisition from different data sources and enrich/integrate them into the required flavor
  • 2 years of experience in create and maintain data analytics environment for multiple data products that enables end users to combine and analyze large volumes of data
  • 2 years of experience in identify various performance bottlenecks in the frameworks and design best practices to support continuous process automation for data ingestion and data pipeline workflows and develop data models
  • 2 years of experience in provide data Insights to architect team and help them with architectural design decision including data modeling
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field plus 5 years related experience.
