Senior Software Engineer – Quant Research & Trading Systems
A leading quantitative trading firm is hiring Senior Software Engineers in Chicago to build the systems that take trading ideas from research and simulation into live markets.
On the research side, you'll build large-scale infrastructure that allows Quant Researchers to experiment, backtest and simulate strategies across enormous datasets.
On the trading side, you'll work on the performance-critical systems that turn those ideas into production strategies - including pricing, execution and low-latency systems interacting directly with exchanges.
It's a rare combination of large-scale distributed computing and low-level performance engineering
, with a very short feedback loop between the systems you build and their impact in live markets.
- Build high-performance research and simulation platforms
- Scale experimentation and backtesting across large market datasets
- Design distributed systems supporting systematic trading strategies
- Build and optimise performance-critical production trading systems
- Develop systems and algorithms involved in pricing and execution
- Partner directly with Quant Researchers and Traders to move ideas into production
- Own complex engineering problems from architecture through to live deployment
- 7+ years of software engineering experience. We are language agnostic.
- Experience building high-performance, distributed or performance-critical systems
- Strong technical ownership and engineering judgement
No trading experience required.
We're particularly interested in strong distributed systems and/or low level engineers who've solved difficult problems around performance, scale or reliability and want to apply that experience much closer to quantitative research and live trading.
