IT Software Engineer

Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for an IT Software Engineer 2 in Chicago, IL
. The position is hybrid/remote with onsite attendance as needed
, and candidates should already be in the Chicago area or be prepared to relocate at their own expense and be available onsite from Day 1. There is a possibility the position could transition to full-time onsite in the future
. This is a 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation pays $68/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay). The role follows a Monday–Friday, first-shift schedule.

Cullerton Group is seeking a Software Engineer to join a Tools & Test Data Management team responsible for building and maintaining scalable internal tooling and test data platforms that improve engineering productivity and data quality. This is a full-stack development role with a strong emphasis on Java, Spring Boot, Angular, AWS, and SQL
. The engineer will develop backend services, build responsive front-end applications, support cloud-native deployments, and work with relational data supporting test-data-management workflows. The position will work within a collaborative engineering team and offers the potential to grow into a lead role over time.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
  .
• Build responsive front-end interfaces using Angular
  .
• Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud-native applications running on AWS
  .
• Develop efficient SQL queries and manage relational data supporting test data management workflows.
• Design and integrate REST APIs and contribute to reliable, well-tested application features.
• Participate in CI/CD and Agile development practices
  .
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver scalable internal software solutions.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field.
• 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency with Java and Spring Boot
  .
• Hands-on experience with AWS
  , including technologies such as EC2, S3, DynamoDB, and RDS
  .
• Strong SQL and relational database skills.
• Professional front-end development experience using Angular
  .
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, CI/CD, and Agile software development practices
  .

• Experience building internal engineering tools, data platforms, or test-data-management solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across backend, front-end, cloud, and database technologies.
• Strong collaboration skills and interest in growing into greater technical ownership or a future lead role.

This opportunity provides hands-on experience across the modern software stack, including Java/Spring Boot, Angular, AWS, SQL, REST APIs, and CI/CD
. You will join a larger team of approximately 15 professionals organized into three smaller teams, providing the opportunity for close collaboration and technical growth. The selected engineer may have the opportunity to grow into a lead role over time
