Senior Software Engineer

Our client, a highly regarded, technology driven trading firm is looking for an experienced Senior Software Developer to join a team building the mission critical systems that underpin real time trading, risk management, and operational decision making across global financial markets.

You'll work on high throughput, low latency distributed systems, where performance, scalability, and reliability are critical. This is an opportunity to solve complex engineering problems at scale while working closely with experienced engineers, quantitative developers, and trading teams.

• Designing and developing real time distributed services for position management, PnL, and risk calculations
• Building highly scalable and fault tolerant systems capable of processing millions of events per second
• Developing reliable messaging infrastructure and high performance data pipelines
• Optimising systems for latency, throughput, scalability, and resilience
• Working closely with traders, quantitative developers, and engineering teams to deliver production-critical solutions
• Contributing to system architecture, technical design, and ongoing platform improvements
• Investigating and resolving complex production and performance issues

• 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience
• Strong experience with modern C++ (C++11/14/17 or later)
• A strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, lock free programming, and memory management
• Experience developing high throughput, low latency applications
• Proven experience designing scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant distributed systems
• Strong SQL and relational database experience, ideally with PostgreSQL
• Good understanding of networking and socket programming, including TCP/IP and UDP
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, research, and trading teams
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or another relevant technical discipline
• Electronic trading or financial markets
• Other latency sensitive or high performance environments
• Event driven architectures and real time messaging systems
• Observability, monitoring, and production support
• High performance networking or systems programming
